A weekend watch on bonsai for beginners.

I’ve long been fascinated by the magical quality of bonsai, but imagined a heady responsibility (nurturing and tending a tiny, decades-old specimen) steeped in ritual.

This makes it all seem more achievable. There’s no prissy nonsense, here.

Peter Chan has won a record 21 Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medals. Even better, his 7 1/2 acre nursery, Herons Bonsai, is just over an hour from me! It will be one of my first trips out, once lockdown is over.

In the meantime, he has an inspiring (and calming) YouTube channel…

I’m inspired to try and create my own.
